I spent years in the British Army as a K9 handler, training working and protection dogs in environments where a single mistake wasn't an option. That job teaches you to read a dog fast, lead it clearly, and build reliability under real pressure - not in a quiet field with a pocket full of treats.
When I left, I kept seeing the same thing across Gloucestershire. Families with a dog they loved but couldn't walk. Handlers with a high-drive dog they couldn't settle. Good owners who'd tried everything and been let down. So I built Severnside K9 to bring that same structured, real-world training to ordinary dogs and their people.
About Jay - Ex-British Army K9 Handler & Gloucestershire Dog Trainer
What Makes Severnside K9 Different?
Real experience, applied to family life. Not theory off a course. Years of getting dogs reliable under pressure, brought to your life and your local walk.
Balanced methods, built around your dog. No template. What the dog in front of me actually needs.
Pet and working dogs both. I work with a dog's genetics, not against them. High drive isn't a fault, it's fuel with nowhere to go.
Owner coaching baked in. I'm not just training your dog. I'm teaching you to run the system, so the progress sticks after I leave.
Who I Work With
Is this you?
Owners who want calm, control and confidence at home and on walks
Dogs with reactivity, aggression, or big-energy behaviour that's taken over
High-drive and working breeds that need someone who's handled them before
Working-dog handlers building real control and capability
If your dog pulls, won't come back, or reacts on walks, that's my patch. Mostly the cases other trainers couldn't crack.
Want to see if I can help?
Book a call. Fifteen minutes. I'll ask about your dog, tell you straight whether I'm the right fit, and if I am we'll get you booked. If I'm not, I'll tell you that too.
